The College and Career Center (Room 7132) is located within the Student Center. It is staffed by a professional college/career counselor and graduate school guidance interns. The hours of operation are 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 7:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. A great variety of reference materials are housed here, including computers with internet access, reference books, scholarship information, SAT and ACT registration information, some college applications, catalogues, summer program information, and the Newton South College Study. The Newton South College Study is an annual compilation of where students (anonymously) from the previous graduating class have applied, their statistical profile (SAT scores and GPAs) and the action taken by the college. Also located in this room are career–related, armed services and gap year information to help all students think about and plan for life after high school.

The College and Career Resource Room has printed materials about the various options open to students after high school, including:

  • Internship programs
  • Career training schools
  • The Armed Services and government agencies
  • Community colleges
  • Two-year colleges
  • Military academies
  • Public and private four-year colleges
