Athletic Trainer
Important Information from your Athletic Trainer
Contact Information
-
Office Number: 617-559-6614
-
Work Cell: 781-207-3691
If I need to contact you, it is important that calls are answered promptly to avoid delays in communication.
Communication Guidelines
- I will contact you directly for any emergencies, injuries involving the neck or above, or any injury requiring the athlete to miss playing time.
- If I have concerns or need a second opinion, I will contact you, and together we will decide the best course of action to ensure proper care.
- For minor concerns, such as aches, cuts, or scrapes, I encourage athletes to advocate for themselves and keep you informed.
Medical Referrals
If I refer your athlete to their Primary Care Provider (PCP) or one of our specialists, I kindly ask that you share the results with me. This ensures continuity of care and helps me manage their recovery and safe return to play.
Concussion Policy
Any athlete suspected of having a concussion will be immediately removed from participation (practice or game) and will be evaluated by the athletic trainer or a licensed medical professional.
Your responsibilities include:
- Ensuring your child is seen by a Primary Care Physician (PCP) for a follow-up evaluation and a medical clearance note.
- Providing the medical note to both the school nurse and the athletic trainer to arrange accommodations for the athlete.
- Keeping the athletic trainer informed of any new developments from medical evaluations and following the return-to-play protocol provided by the healthcare professional.
Emergency Preparedness
The NSHS Emergency Action Plan outlines how we handle emergencies. I highly recommend taking a moment to review it so we are all on the same page about safety procedures.
Pre-Season Preparation
With tryouts around the corner, please ensure the following are completed:
-
A current physical is on file with the school.
- ImPACT testing is up to date (All 9th, 11th and new athletes must complete the test before tryouts).
- Impact Testing Link
This helps prevent delays and ensures a smooth start to the season.
Collaboration Is Key
Your athlete’s safety is my top priority. I am committed to providing the best care possible and fostering a safe environment for their growth and success. However, I can’t do it alone. I appreciate your collaboration, trust, and support as we work together to make this a great season. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Looking forward to a successful season
